Interesting - and slightly amusing - to read that the XBox Live service in the US is being hacked to ribbons, with the assistance, it seems, of the XBox Live customer service peeps.
The issue received a lot of attention in XBox circles last week when a frustrated, but legit, user who had been locked out of the Xbox Live service, posted recordings of his calls with the help line.
Microsoft initially said there was no security breach and blamed its users. But the company subsequently said it would review its customer service processes, including the retraining of its staff.
According to reports on CNet, the problem appears to stem from hackers using social engineering techniques to request password resets on accounts they don't own.
The XBox Live was reportedly down for around 24 hours last week - purely coincidentally, of course...
