Facebook started its life as a college website, aiming to attract teenagers and young adults.
But Mark Zuckerberg's startup is starting to change, thanks to its APIs, into a tool that can be used by professionals.
And this can cause the growing giant to encroach on Linkedin traditional sectors.
Michael Arrington from Techcrunch, highlights an API called Meeting_For which uses a new Facebook feature called "Networking".
However, it remains to be seen whether Facebook will be able to shed its juvenile look and adopt a more professional approach and whether this will convince professionals to leave Linkedin in droves to join Facebook and bring in much needed revenue.
As a commentator puts it, "Linkedin has the stink of stability while Facebook has a stain of buzz".
