Security firm launches hosted security service

Moscow-based Security Firm, Kaspersky, has expanded its security offerings in the UK by launching a hosted security services and embracing the growing Software as a Services trend.

Kaspersky will provide anti-spam and anti-virus hosted security suites - Kaspersky Hosted Email Security AS (Anti-Spam) and Hosted Email Security AV - which will be covered by Service Level Agreements.

The service will use the company's own antivirus engine as well as the proprietary BitHunt technology to protect its customers against zero-hour attacks.

Kaspersky (opens in new tab) wants the proposed model to act as an email firewall, tackling any Denial of services attacks before they reach the corporate network.

Rather than taking over security, Hosted security complements desktop bound applications like Antivirus, Firewall or Anti spyware software.

According to Kaspersky, hosted services offer a lower cost of ownership - up to 30 percent less, higher security rate and better quality.

The services were offered first in Russia before reaching France and Germany before rolling out in UK and in a near future, in the US as well.

Organisations with less than 250 users will be able to test the Hosted Security Services for free until the 21st of April 2008 by contacting Kaspersky.
