I noticed on the wires that hackers have successfully disrupted a couple of Swedish Web sites that offer discount programs for University students.
Reports are unclear as to what information has been downloaded bout as many as a million students, but my guess is that it's a prank by some students wanting to have some fun.
In messages left on the sites' home pages, the hackers said they had carried out the attacks to demonstrate the sites' weak security, adding they didn't intend to use any of the information they had accessed.
The bad news, of course, is that the site operators have said they have no plans at this stage to re-open the sites, which is bad news is you're a Swedish student using the discount programs.
So it seems that the hackers, if they are students, have scuppered the financial savings of a million of their colleagues - nice one. Not...
