Denver woman charged with identity theft

I was intrigued to read over the weekend that a Denver woman has been charged with identity theft. (opens in new tab)

According to reports in the Denver press, City of Lincolnton Police Detective Charles McGinley (opens in new tab) investigated the case after reports of fraudulent card charges in the area.

Ironically, whilst the woman identified as Barbara Crouse made a number of anonymous purchases using credit cards obtained by identity theft, she made the stupid mistake of paying her mother's property taxes using one the cards.

As a result, Ms Barbara Houk Crouse was arrested by police and charged with two counts of identity theft and two counts of obtaining property by false pretences.

And you thought America's dumbest criminals TV program was something of a set-up? Homer Simpson eat your heart out...
