Belgium has joined the growing list of countries that claim their government computer systems have been hacked by the Chinese. Other countries on the list include the US, the UK, Germany and India.
According to Jo Vandeurzen, the Belgian Minister of Justice, Chinese hackers have made multiple attempts to gain unauthorised access to Belgian Federal Government computer system, as well as networks operated by other government agencies.
Vandeurzen is quoted on the newswires as saying the attacks are being master-minded by the military in Beijing, but he has no firm evidence o prove that the Chinese government was involved.
The $64,000 question, of course, is why the Chinese government would risk doing this in the run-up to the Olympics.
It couldn't be that the Chinese military doesn't care what foreign governments and their citizens think about China could it?...
