Yahoo! Takes On Google's Gmail With Ymail, Offers Unlimited Storage

Beleagured Internet giant Yahoo! is looking forward to saw off the challenges of Hotmail and Gmail with a new domain name,, which will be available as from tomorrow to existing and new Yahoo! customers.

More than 260 million web users have Yahoo accounts which makes it the world's biggest free web mail provider; the launch of the new Ymail service, in 21 languages, will mean yet another scramble to get premium emails (e.g.

Ymail will come with the same set of features as Yahoo! mail : Unlimited storage, integrated instant messaging, 10MB attachments, Outlook like Web 2.0-esque design and inbuilt protection against spam and viruses.

Commenting on the new service launch, George Hadjigeorgiou, Yahoo! Europe General Manager of Communication and Community Products, commented: “After ten years, the huge popularity of Yahoo! Mail has meant personalised email addresses are in great demand. The launch of allows more people the chance to get the email addresses they really want and to provide them with a brilliant starting point for their daily online experience.”
