The partnership between TiVo and Amazon allow people to buy items from Amazon with a click of their remote.
The new feature called “Product Purchase” launched by TiVo allows TiVo users to buy certain items that are publicised by TV shows like The Oprah Winfrey Show," "The Colbert Report," "The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” and "Burn Notice" from amazon.com.
The feature is available only for Series 2, Series 3, and TiVo HD DVRs that is broadband connected.
The Swivel Search function on the TiVo can connect the users with the Amazon store where they can buy their item of choice.
The service is launched with only the four TV shows participating, and viewers who find the items that are reviewed in the show to be interesting can buy them from Amazon after checking out the rates for shipping and taxes, and as a plus point one doesn’t even have to miss out on the TV show when shopping.
The new service bridges the gap between TiVo and advertising fraternity where TiVo was seen as a device that allows one to skip the advertisements, and hence is detrimental to marketing.
Another benefit of the service is that it allows users to go beyond the traditional home shopping network, and a special target audience, who are interested only in products shown on the TV shows, are tapped with the service.
