It seems that the ageing HTC Touch series has finally got its successor in the guise of the new HTC Opal smartphone, after a leaked internet document displaying the picture of the device hit the blogosphere recently.
Earlier, HTC Touch Diamond was speculated to be the new addition to the Touch series, but surprisingly, HTC shuns the prismatic designs and the new handset looks to carry the cramming, similar to that of the original series.
The handset sports the TouchFLO 3D touch user-interface to support the Windows Mobile 6.1 platform and runs on the TI OMAP 200 MHz processor.
The device boasts of a 256 MB in-built memory with an extendable microSD card slot further, it also includes a 2.0-megapixel camera, 802.11 Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and a 2.8-inch, 240 x 320 pixels QVGA touchscreen.
HTC Opal is likely to support nearly all prominent music formats and is said to offer enhanced browsing with the Opera’s web browser.
However, the news is not more than a speculation and it is yet to be confirmed by HTC.
