It seems that the next edition of Windows Mobile is unlikely to be released before the second half of next year.
According to CNET, Windows Mobile 7 which was initially scheduled to be released in the first half of next year is all set to miss it deadline with Microsoft conveying to its partners that it may experience a delay.
With Google’s Android based mobile handset already hitting the market, this delay may cost Microsoft dearly and there are chances that Android will be able to wean away a significant share of Windows Mobile market.
In addition this delay is unlikely to go down well with its partners many of whom are already experiencing competition from the Apple iPhone and others of its ilk.
However there are indications that Microsoft will release a new mobile browser before the end of this year which would have support for Ajax and Flash based content.
