After hearing the evidences against David Kernell, who allegedly hacked Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s Yahoo Mail account, the federal jury in Chattanooga ended its hearing without indicting the accused.
The 20-year old University of Tennessee student admitted his involvement in hacking Palin’s account in a post to an online forum 4chan.com.
The grand jury probed three students on Tuesday about the breach and subsequently wrapped up hearings without making any decision on it; however, a spokesperson for the US Department of Justice stated that the government investigation into the matter is still in progress.
Chattanooga Times Free Press reported that the FBI is still investigating the issue and asserted the chances of the jury to return to the indictment.
According to Wired.com, the IP address from which Palin’s account was accessed belongs to an Illinois based ISP Pavlov Media that provides internet services to Kernell.
David Kernell is the son of Mike Kernell, state representative for Tennessee Democratic and lives in an apartment in Knoxville, Tennessee.
