Asus is firing on all cylinders it seems. It has released specifications of its 15.6-inch touch screen desktop Eee PC, the Top 1602 and has publicised its “powerful multimedia capabilities”.
Sporting a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, the new desktop from Asus includes, a 160GB SATAII 5400 RPM hard drive, 802.11n wireless support, a couple of USB ports, 1GB of DDR2 memory, a 1.3-megapixel camera, and an on-board GMA 950 integrated graphics from Intel.
Currently the device comes installed with Windows XP instead of Windows Vista and the Linux version of the desktop is yet to be announced; however, users can also access Linux by using ExpressGate mini OS from SplashBox.
The new offering from Asus has an eye-catchy interface and the desktop bundles with a SoftStylus for on-screen finger writing, an SdHC card reader, SRS premium sound sub-system, and a touch-monitored version of opera, and Eee Cinema.
The Eee Top 1602 is expected to be around shortly with a price tag of GBP 449. Play.com is set to launch it on the 20th of November and you can already pre-order.
