The card division of Barclays, Barclaycard, has announced that it has issued its one-millionth cashless, contactless card after having set this target earlier this year.
Barclaycard, which introduced the first credit card in the UK back in 1966, also said that all new Barclaycard Platinum cards will come with contactless technology by default.
The card issuer branded the technology as a success after a research survey found out that only 2 percent of contactless cardholders questioned said that the technology was difficult to use and a staggering 88 percent said it helped them save time.
The research also found out that a significant percentage of the respondents would use contactless payment technology to buy cheap items with more than 95 percent saying they do at least one transaction below £10 every day.
And contactless is also part of every day life with 80 percent saying that they are already using contactless technology elsewhere, to open office doors or on London's transport system through the Oyster card.
One in five credit card in UK is a Barclaycard one and the company claims to be Europe's largest credit card issuer with more than 11 million cards.
The bank also announced that it has signed in Sandwich Chain Pret a Manger.
