Retailing giant Costco has slashed the price of the Black T-Mobile G1 by $100 to only $79.99 when buying a two year contract with T-Mobile (US) or upgrading an existing contract.
Users will be required to spend $24.99 per month for activation and the deal also includes a bonus bluetooth headset. On Wednesday, Amazon dropped the price of the G1 to $98.
The unlocked T-Mobile G1 Android costs $399.99 in the US but costs a whopping £395 in the UK. The "sale" coincides with the rumours that O2 could possibly do a similar one and give punters the chance to jump on the iPhone bandwagon for much less.
T-Mobile sells the G1 for as little as £30 per month; going a notch down, you can get the G1 for £25 per month on a 18-month Combi 20 contract but you'd have to fork out £48.92.
Chances are that T-Mobile UK will use the same tactics as O2 with the iPhone by pre-emptively cutting prices as other mobile Android mobile phones appear (soon hopefully). Vodafone, not T-Mobile, got the exclusive rights to the HTC Magic G2 smartphone.
We can therefore expect the G1 to be available for free from £25 per month on a 18 month contract and even on a £20 one with a 24 month contract.

Androidguys says that only the price of the G1 Black is going down because it is not selling that well. Furthermore, T-Mobile (US) will be selling the G2 across the pond, but not in the UK. Hence the decision may be to clear out some stock. The G1 is a decent phone but it appears to be lightweight compared to the likes of the Nokia Xpressmusic 5800 which may lack a keyboard but comes at a cheaper price.
