T-Mobile UK has announced that it will be launching Arena, LG's forthcoming touchscreen handset that comes with a rather interesting 3D cubic interface.
The device which, apparently is ideal for Twitter and watching video clips on Youtube, sports a high gloss titan black finish and has a 3-inch touchscreen display capable of displaying 480x800 pixels, more than the iPhone 3G and on par with a 1st generation Netbook. LG believes that its innovative 3D S-Class user interface will set it apart from the rest of the competition.
Other significant features include a 5-megapixel camera with flash, 8GB inbuilt memory capacity, a FM transmitter, WiFi, a microSDHC card reader, assisted GPS, a 3.5mm audio jack and a virtual scroll wheel. Known as the KM900, the handset is one of the very few to come with onboard Dolby Mobile sound technology.
This, T-Mobile hopes, will allow its customers to seamlessly download music tracks and videos, a la iPhone. The KM 900 will be available in April for free on Flext 40 and Combi 40 contracts, probably with free web'n'walk internet plans.
Pocket-lint also revealed that LG has managed to get one million pre-orders for the LG Arena which is pretty impressive given that the G1 Android had a 1.5-million pre-order order book in October 2008.

Could the LG Arena be the first surprise of the 2009, only two months after it was first announced? On paper, the device seems to be fairly impressive, especially with a high resolution screen. But we fear that the 3D interface might be a bit too revolutionary for its own good.
