Settling rumours over launch date of the highly anticipated smartphone Palm Pre, the New York Times reported that the handset is all set to hit the US market in the first week of June.
“The season’s most compelling phone drama will start the first week in June, when Sprint will begin selling the Palm Pre, people briefed on the company’s plans said”, the newspaper reported.
The move implies that the announcement of Palm Pre would come just a few days ahead of Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference where the company is expected to unveil its new iPhone. However, the company hasn’t announced the UK launch date of the handset yet.
This new piece of information goes well in line with previous rumours about launch date of the handset. However, the report has confirmed that the handset will hit shelves in US by the first week of June.
The article further pointed out that the release of Palm Pre is going to be very important for both Palm and Sprint, as both the companies are struggling hard to get some space in the highly competitive smartphone market.
