Apple might have sold one million iPhones 3G S in three days but Samsung almost matched it as it claimed that consumers have flocked to its latest smartphone, the Jet, and pre-orders reached a whopping two million in 7 days.
This would mean that the touchscreen candybar has surpassed the sales of Tocco and Omnia range of phones which were Samsung's past best sellers; the Samsung UltraTouch pre-orders reached 1.8 million units earlier this year.
In comparison, LG's own Arena took 30 days to reach the 2 million barrier. In the UK, Vodafone has been granted two weeks exclusivity on the phone and 3 has already confirmed that it will also sell the Jet by mid July.
The phone will go on sale in 50 countries this year and comes with a high resolution screen that apparently uses 40 percent less energy cmopared to previous technologies. The Jet uses a 800MHz processor and a 3.1-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 480x800 pixels, which is more than twice that of than the iPhone 3GS.
The smartphone also packs 2GB internal storage, a 5-megapixel camera with flash, built-in GPS, DNS and SRS Sound effect, DiVX and XVid video support plus Samsung's own Dolfin browser and Windows 6.1 Mobile (which we hope will be upgradable to Windows 7 Mobile).
The iPhone has been on sale in only eight countries and will roll out in significantly more within the next few months but will still leave out strategic territories like Korea and China. The Jet was revealed back in mid June.

Significantly though, the Samsung Jet will be available on much cheaper monthly contracts than the new iPhone 3GS especially for those looking to stick to 18 months contracts. One can expect 3 to introduce the Jet on its popular £25 300 mix-and-match minutes and texts offer.
