LG's next Black Label Chocolate handset, which will be launched towards the end of the year, is likely to have a 4-inch screen and will become the second smartphone, after the Toshiba TG01, to bear such a large display.
Speaking to YonHap news earlier today, Ahn Seung-kwon, president for LG's mobile business, said that "For the previous Black Label series, our focus was on design. This time, we want to go beyond that, I believe the experience users will have with our phone will be different from what they could get with the iPhone."
An official video of the mobile phone was removed earlier today but quickly copied back by aficionados
The list of features is absolutely impressive for a phone that looks like a remote contro. There's the four-inch multi touch display capable of displaying 800x345 pixels, which is a 21:9 widescreen "cinematic" ratio. The only other mainstream device we know that sports this ratio is Philips' 55-inch Cinema 21x9 LCD TV which costs £4500.
In comparison, the iPhone has a 3.5-inch screen that shows 480x320 pixels. Furthermore, the screen is covered by a scratchproof tempered glass screen that should be more resistant to shock than other rivals. It also comes with a 5-megapixel camera complete with Flash, Active shooting UI and Schneider-Kreuznach certified lens.
Then there's the active Flash User Interface which seems to be extremely responsive (ed: that's a marketing video), full internet browsing, HSDPA and WiFi functionality, built-in accelerometer, Assisted GPS, onscreen keyboard.

Will it use Android? Or will it be using the standard LG proprietary operating system? Will be interesting to see how it all pans out. The BL40 appears to be significantly sexier than the other 4-inch touchphone, the TG01. There are rumours that the video is a fake one but we doubt it due to its sleekness.
