Consumer electronics giant Sony has announced two slim digital cameras, the Cyber-shot TX1 and the WX1 that bot come with a 10.2 megapixel resolution and have a very special feature that's guaranteed to make heads turn, literally.
Both cameras can be used together with the Sony IPT-DS1, a rather nifty little tripod accessory that pans (up to 360 degrees) and tilts (maximum of 24 degrees) the camera and can simultaneously adjust the zoom settings to take the ideal picture.
The dock/tripod - which should be available as of today - costs $150 and can last up to 11 hours on two AA batteries, which is more than most party-goers would be able to withstand. No release dates in the UK have been confirmed yet.
In addition, the cameras can recognise and track faces thanks to their built in Face detection and Smile shutter capabilities. Both Cybershot cameras use Sony's own Exmor R Cmos sensor that is supposed to do marvels when shooting in low light conditions.
Shigehiko Nakayama, Sony’s Product Manager for digital imaging accessories, said at the products' release that “Party-shot captures candid moments that tell natural life stories”.
The TX1 has a smaller shooting angle (185 degrees) compared to the WX1 (246 degrees), this means that the WX1 is thicker than the TX1 although it has a 5x zoom that outweighs the latter.
Our Comments
This camera would be ideal to take pictures in a controlled environment (i.e. one in which you can be sure that the cameras won't be lost/stolen). Thinking about it, both cameras would make pretty stylish and nifty webcams or security devices.
