In an attempt to offer enterprise grade unified communication solutions to midsized companies, Avaya has launched a new platform that utilizes virtualization technology.
The new solution christened as Avaya Aura comes with the ability to effectively deploy unmodified versions of a bunch of real time Avaya solutions like Voice Messaging, Application Enablement Services and Media Services on a single server.
The solution is directed at companies having between 100 to 2400 users and is expected to receive a good feedback from many mid sized businesses.
Explaining the advantages of the new service, Jirina Yates from Avaya mentioned to Channel Pro that “It’s also easier for partners to design and deploy the solution. They can streamline the implementation process and can start to provide more value-add services, such as consulting the customer on how to benefit from the technology”.
Some of the other key advantages offered by the software include a significant reduction in power and maintenance requirements besides reducing the hardware requirements.
According to Avaya, the solution also reduces a company’s dependency on backup severs, offers considerable scalability and it standard edition is available at a very competitive price of just $60 per user.
As communication channels converge, unified communications solutions will become more mainstream with prices going downwards. Avaya's solution will essentially make companies run more efficiently using existing facilities and UC will be for communications what Virtualisation has been for networks.
