Apple has released a minor update to its mobile operating system which fixes a number of bugs and patches some worrying security holes.
The 228MB download, which as usual is only available through iTunes, updates the OS to version 3.1.3 but doesn't add any functionality to the device.
Fixes include improved battery level reporting on the 3Gs and problems with launching some third party Apps across the range.
Owners of jailbroken phones have been warned to steer well clear of this update as it unbreaks the broken, as it were.
iPhone fiddlers Dev Team will have a workaround within days if they attack this update with their usual enthusiasm.
Apple has also simultaneously released SDK 3.1.3 which is available to registered developers.
