Future Publishing, the company behind the official PlayStation magazine, has announced that soon, PlayStation 3 owners will be able to watch a brand new HD interactive service on the PlayStation Network.
The program, named FirstPlay, has been developed by Future Publishing and is aimed at bringing high quality gaming content right to the PS3 console of the user.
The application will be beamed to the gaming console on every Thursday and will have full high definition content including game video reviews, artwork and screenshots.
Firstplay will also allow uses to view details of the latest happenings on the PlayStation Network along with huge downloads section.
Commenting on the launch of the interactive show for the PS3, Chief Executive at Future Publishing, Robert Price, commented: “FirstPlay is a ground breaking development, not just for gamers, but for the media industry, and we are delighted to be partnering with Sony on this pioneering project.”
The company also reported that the download section created for FirstPlay will contain exclusive demos, beta trials, themes and other assorted downloadable content.
The user interface of the program will be an XMB (XrossMediaBar) style one similar to that of Qore, which is an interactive magazine available on the PlayStation Network in the US.
Interesting media to use. The PS3 as a supplier of interactive shows could certainly prove to be an interesting experiment. We don't yet know whether the show will actually be free or not but it is likely to be either very cheap or heavily advertised.
