Orange punts Android-based HTC Desire

Orange will be launching the Android-powered touch-screen HTC Desire in the UK.

Available this spring across all Orange consumer retail and business channels, the HTC Desire will be free on selected consumer pay monthly and business price plans.

The 3G+ enabled Desire is the latest device to feature Google’s 2.1 Android operating system. It is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 1GHz processor

The handset also comes with a choice of specially-designed and unique user interface options courtesy of HTC Sense and an integrated five mega-pixel, auto-focus camera with video capability, a gravity sensor, GPS, a digital compass and 512 MB of inbuilt memory as well as a slot for a 32Gb MicroSD card.

Orange said it will be offering the HTC Desire for free to customers on selected pay monthly price plans.

It will be available from Orange shops and online in April 2010.

T-Mobile UK has Twitted that it will have the phone available from March 26th, pipping Orange to the post by a few days at least.
