Intel boss Sean Maloney suffers stroke

Intel executive VP and architecture group managing director Sean Maloney is taking time off after suffering a stroke at home.

Maloney, who is widely tipped to become Intel's next CEO, is expected to make a full recovery after a leave of absence which will last several months.

The popular 53 year-old Brit started as an intern at Intel and currently shares his roles with Dadi Perlmutter, who will carry out Maloney's duties in his absence.

Current CEO Paul Otellini has visited Maloney during his recuperation and said, "His sense of humour and determination to return to work fill the room. We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to his return."
