US retail giant Best Buy has announced that the company will be opening its very first store in the UK during the month May in Thurrock, Essex, which will stock a wide range of electronic products relating to entertainment, computing and gaming technology.
According to an official statement released by the company, Best Buy, which own more than 1,150 electronic retail stores across US, China, Mexico and Turkey, will also open speciality stores in Hedge End, Southampton and Merry Hill, West Midlands in June accompanied with another one in Aintree, Liverpool.
Paul Antoniadis, Best Buy branded operations CEO, commenting on the companies move, said in a statement that “We’re here to make buying technology exciting and tailored to each of our customers. Our store in Thurrock marks the beginning of a new chapter and we’re looking forward to bringing the Best Buy experience to consumers across the UK.”
Interestingly, the company had plans to open a string of retail outlets across UK last year, but it backed out at the last moment, when it decided to wait a while longer in order to get better locations for its upcoming stores.
However, Best Buy, which is also a major games seller in the US, poses no threat to popular UK gaming stores like Gamestation and GAME, according to industry experts.
