Steve Jobs has announced at the iPhone OS 4.0 event that more than 450,000 iPad devices have been sold as of today, which means that an additional 150,000 iPads have been sold in the four days following the launch on Saturday.
The Apple CEO took on the stage a few minutes ago and chose to open the event using a quote from Walt Mossberg, of Wall Street Journal who was quoted saying that the iPad has the potential to change portable computing profoundly.
Jobs also reported that Apple is producing as many iPad as it can before adding that more than 600,000 iBooks and 3.5 million iPad apps which means that each iPad user has downloaded on average just over one iBook and around seven Apps.
There are already 3,500 iPad Apps in the App store right now which brings the total of Apps in the App store to well over an impressive 185,000. In all, Steve Jobs added, well over four billion apps have been downloaded since the launch of the feature.
