Apple has approved the Opera Mini browser for use on its triumvirate of iDevices and it's available on iTunes already.
Opera challenged Apple to change its policy of not allowing App developers to publish software which stood on the toes of any of the company's core Apps with Opera Mini and it looks like the Cupertino company has finally bowed to the pressure.
Opera even went so far as to post a speculative counter to its web site which gave a running total of the number of days, hours, minutes and seconds until Apple rubber stamped the App for approval.
As you can see it took a little under three weeks for someone brave enough to hit the green button to step up to the mark.
The bottom line is that this can only be good for Apple and for iPhone, iPod and iPad users because competition creates better software for all of us.
We've had a quick fiddle with Opera Mini for iPhone and it all works very nicely. It's brisk and intuitive, and we'll be bringing you a full review later today.
