Opera Software, the company behind the Opera web browser, has announced that its Opera Mini for iPhone web browser has successfully gained the approval from Apple Inc. to be featured on the popular App Store for iPhone users.
The Opera Mini app, which was announced by Opera back in February, was not expected to gain Steve Job's approval because of Apple Safari web browser, which faces severe competition from Opera's desktop and mobile versions.
However now, users of the popular iPhone device will be able to enjoy the amazing web browsing capabilities which come with Opera Mini, which, according to Opera, is designed for a faster and cheaper browsing experience.
Expressing his views on the subject, Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software, said in a statement that “We are delighted to offer iPhone and iPod touch users a great browsing experience with the Opera Mini App. This app is another step toward Opera's goal of bringing the Web to more people in more places.”
According to Opera, the Opera Mini for iPhone and iPod Touch, will run on devices running iPhone OS 2.2.1, and is designed to compress web content by 90 percent before sending to the app page, thereby increasing the browsing speeds. Due to its data compressing abilities, users will have to pay less for browsing the net.
