European music streaming outfit Spotify has climbed into bed with social notworking giant Facebook.
The online music service has added Facebook Connect to its user interface to allow subscribers and freeloaders to share individual tracks, artists or playlists by dragging and dropping them onto a list of fake Facebook friends.
The update has also added the ability to play local MP3 files within the Spotify user interface and to rate playlisted tunes using a starring system.
Spotify founder and CEO Daniel Ek told the BBC that his engineers had been working on the revamp for the last six months. He said: "We're marrying the best bits of Facebook and we're marrying the best bits of iTunes and we've moved them in to Spotify."
The upgrade is available to download now.
