iPad finally gets UK release date UPDATED

British Apple fanboys rejoice! The waiting is over.

Apple's iPad will finally be avilable for pre order on May 10th, but you still won't be able to lay your hands on the highly desireable slab of glass and 'magic' until the end of May.

Perhaps signalling that America has finished snuffling at the iPad trough and has had its fill, the Cupertino company's Second Coming of the personal computer will grace our shores on Monday, and you can expect demand to outweigh supply for weeks to come.

Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain and Switzerland will also be able to get in on the act

We won't bore you with the technical specs as they're by now more than familiar to all but the most adamant luddite, but we will suggest you take a look at this blog if you are part of a large family and planning to buy Apple's tablety toy.

It's a tale of woe from one reluctant iPad buyer who now finds himself having to fight with his wife and children to even get a look at the new shiny thing in his life.

Best stick to the PC, mate. [Ed].

We've now been told that the iPad will be on sale in Apple stores in the UK from May 28th. Pre-orders traditionally tip up a day before that.

The Wi-Fi only version will be priced at £429, £499 and £599 for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models, respectively. Add another 100 quid to those prices if you want the 3G version.
