Microsoft To Launch Shrink Wrapped Office 2010 On June 15th

Microsoft has announced that Office 2010 will be available for consumers in retail outlets across the nation from June 15.

The software giant says in a press release that Office 2010 will "consumers by offering a range of new features to make their lives simpler across the Office portfolio that help turn everyday tasks into rich and productive experiences at home, at work and at play."

One of the highlights of Office 2010 will be the release of Web Apps which means that applications like Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Onenote will be available from any compatible browser on a PC, laptop and mobile.

Outlook is not present in the lot since it requires Exchange to work properly. You can already preorder (opens in new tab) the three versions of the suite which will be available for general public direct from Microsoft (ed: that's actually arvato distribution GmbH).

The Office and Home version costs £110, while the Office Home and Business 2010 which adds Outlook 2010 comes in at £240 and the Professional 2010 version costing a whopping £430. Note that you can either get the suite as a download or a shipment.

As expected, the price of Office 2010 suites in the US are significantly less expensive. The H&S vrsion costs $150, H&B, $280 and Professional $500.
