The largest wireless operator in the US is hopping into bed with Google to create a rival to Apple's iPad.
Verizon is hooking up with the many-tentacled, search engine megacorporation in an effort to catch up with Steve Jobs' self proclaimed 'magical' device, becoming the latest addition to a long list of wannabe outfits desperatley trying to catch hold of the Cupertino company's coat tails.
Verizon top dog Lowell McAdam told the Wall Street Journal, "We're working on tablets together, for example. We're looking at all the things Google has in its archives that we could put on a tablet to make it a great experience."
McAdam said that his company had been too busy getting its new network up and running to keep up with the iPad so far, but that new devices would be ready early next year.
