Online reference site Wikipedia has been updated to improve its user interface and add functionality.
Owner The Wikimedia Foundation says the Wikipedia update is the result of a year's worth of beta testing and feedback from over half a million people working with the Wikimedia User Experience team.
Naoko Komura, representating the Wikimedia User Experience team, wrote: “We kicked off this effort in April 2009, and immediately went to work to figure out how to make Wikipedia easier to use for everyone.”
The new and improved Wikipedia has a fresh new design theme, named Vector, and improved navigational features.
The update also includes an enhanced search function and an improved tool bar that makes it easier for contributors to edit pages.
For those who don't feel comfortable with the site's new look, the foundation has provided a 'Take me back' option, which will restore the original Wikipedia interface, the Monobook theme and the left-hand-side search function.
