Micro-blogging giant Twitter has released the official Twitter application for the iPhone.
This follows the launch the official Twitter for Android application last month.
The new application is an updated version of the popular Tweetie application acquired by Twitter after they bought its developer Atebits last month, and replaces the original Tweetie application in the App store.
Twitter for iPhone comes with new and improved features including the ability to handle multiple accounts, to use the application in offline mode and to post videos and photos directly to the website.
The official iPhone application will also integrate the user's Twitter account with their phone's address book.
The new application will be available as a free download as is expected to be compatible with the new Apple iPad.
