Hewlett-Packard and French telecommunications equipment maker Alcatel-Lucent have jointly decided to release solutions that allow unified communications (UC) between clients.
According to the new contract, HP will assist in the implementation of unified communications services offered by Alcatel-Lucent, and will also develop applications for its UC product portfolio.
In a joint statement, the two companies stated: “This agreement enables HP and Alcatel-Lucent to deliver and market end-to-end [unified communication and collaboration] solutions to clients. These solutions use the convergence of telecommunications and IT to transform the way customers use UC&C services.”
The solutions offered by the companies will include migration from multi-vendor PBX phone systems to integrated IP-based voice services, using the IP telephony offered by Alcatel-Lucent. The collaboration will also offer automated workflow solutions that allow businesses to reduce their operational costs by increasing the effectiveness of enterprise-wide resources.
In order to offer migration services to clients, HP is planning to use the Genesys Customer Interaction management platform and the OmniTouch communication tool developed by Alcatel-Lucent.
