Microsoft has sold its Expression Media photo cataloguing software suite to digital camera maker Phase One.
Expression Media, previously marketed by Microsoft as a part of the Office for Mac software suite, was developed using technology the company had acquired from iView Multimedia.
Phase One CEO Henrik Hakonsson said: “We're excited about taking ownership of Expression Media. We have worked with Microsoft for several years, during which many of our customers have chosen Expression Media for their digital asset management needs.”
According to the terms of the deal, Microsoft must provide support for Expression Media customers for a period of 90 days, after which Phase One will take over responsibility.
The software giant has also agreed to provide 90-day support for customers who have purchased Expression Media on a volume license.
Microsoft has said that the deal was a part of the strategic alliance formed between the two companies in 2007.
