Symantec has announced its new Norton Domain Name Server (DNS) internet security software for Android-based smartphones.
Norton DNS Beta is scheduled to launch in June, and will be available to download free of charge from here.
In a statement, Janice Chaffin, President of Symantec's Consumer Business Unit, said: “We are entering a new era where non-PC devices are exploding in numbers, which means more opportunity for cybercriminals. It’s becoming more and more critical for consumers to be protected beyond their PCs.”
Symantec explained that Norton DNS will offer an alternative DNS server, provided by Dyn, to users who want a better, faster and safer online browsing experience than ever before, laden with Norton security features that protect the user from almost any kind of cyber-attack.
Norton DNS is a part of the Norton Everywhere software suite, so called because it will offer internet security for all internet enabled devices, from PCs to mobile phones.
