IBM has unveiled two new enterprise storage products capable of running on both x86 storage systems and System x mainframe systems.
System Storage DS3500 Express and System x3620 M3 Express will target companies that have small data centres.
The DS3500 Express storage system is set to come with several multiple connectivity functions including Fibre Channel, iSCSI and SAS, allowing clients to run their operations on tiered networks.
The tiered storage network approach comes with Tier 1 solid state disk storage, Tier 2 SATA hard disks and Tier 3 tape storage.
The System x3620 M3 Express will run on Intel's Xeon multiprocessors and will allow swift input/output functions and come with heavy storage options.
IBM has said that the system is capable of handling data from social networking websites, day-to-day transactions and surveillance videos.
