Game developer Zynga has announced the acquisition of Challenge Games, adding to its line of studios all over the world.
Challenge Games, which was started in 2007, is a developer of web based games including Warstorm, a card game, and Ponzi, a tycoon game.
Mike Verdu, senior vice president of Zynga, said that the deal will see Challenge Game become a Zynga studio, to be known as Zynga Austin studio, adding to the list of other studios owned by the game developer, set in San Francisco, Baltimore, Los Angeles, Bangalore and Beijing.
The deal, which comes into effect immediately, will integrate the 35 Challenge Games employees into Zynga's team.
The Challenge Games CEO will join as Zynga's general manager and the vice president of Zynga Austin studio.
Zynga has a wide network of users across the world thanks to blockbuster games like FarmVille, Treasure Isle, Zynga Poker, Mafia Wars, YoVille, Café World, FishVille and PetVille, available on social networking websites like Facebook, MySpace, and on the iPhone.
