Research In Motion has launched BlackBerry App World for the Japanese market.
Attempting to expand its presence in the ever-growing global mobile application market, the release of the BlackBerry App World will allow Japanese BlackBerry owners to access a wide range of applications created for the platform.
The App World store will offer free applications that will promote the phone for business users.
Ueno Kimiak, the managing director for RIM's Japanese disvision, said (opens in new tab): “BlackBerry App World offers a broad spectrum of both personal and business applications. Customers can easily find the applications they desire and download them on-the-go.”
The company said that the app store can be accessed via the Wi-Fi networks and mobile broadband services.
Each application is designed to work with specific BlackBerry models, meaning users will be able to download only those applications compatible with their handset.
