Vodafone has announced it is taking pre-orders for the Android 2.1-based HTC Wildfire smartphone.
The UK-based telecommunication services provider is offering the HTC's smartphone for free on a £20 per month contract.
The HTC Wildfire is essentially a slower version of HTC's Desire smartphone, with a lower resolution screen.
The customers who want to get the phone for free will have to sign up to a 24 month-deal, or pay an extra £5 per month to get a free Wildfire on an 18-month contract.
The HTC Wildfire is also being offered by mobile providers T-Mobile and 3Mobile, though neither company has revealed the prices or tariffs the smartphone will be available on.
Vodafone, the first network provider to begin pre-orders for the HTC Wildfire, is also offering the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini for a similar price.
HTC's new smartphone is expected to start shipping from 15 June. Customers can pre-order the HTC Wildfire from Vodafone here.
