Sega has announced it is to launch several classics from its long-gone Dreamcast console for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
The games will be made available on the Sony's PlayStation Network (PSN) and Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade, and include Crazy Taxi Shenmue, Jet Set Radio, Seaman, Phantasy Star Online, Samba de Amigo, Space Channel 5, Powerstone and Skies of Arcadia and Sonic Adventure.
The Sega Dreamcast, launched in 1999, was taken off the market within a couple of years, but some of its games still have a dedicated following.
Sega's Vice President of Digital Business for America and Europe, Haruki Satomi, said: "The Dreamcast is fondly remembered by a large community of dedicated fans as a console that was ahead of its time in terms of graphics, quality and online gaming. There are few things that are more requested from us than making Dreamcast classics available for download in today’s digital market place. We’re very excited to begin offering gamers our beloved Dreamcast titles again on the current console systems."
Sega has made many improvements to the games being released for download, including new high-resolution visuals, surround sound, online leaderboards and trophies.
