IT networking company Enterasys Networks has released its new S series switches, aimed at optimising the management of data centres.
Since its merger with Siemens Enterprise Communications in June 2008, Enterasys has been working on a radical shift in its strategy.
The development of the improved S series data centre switches has been the primary focus of Enterasys in its new data centre strategy.
Enterasys claims that its diverse data centre experience enables it to provide products that will make it for businesses to control both the physical and virtual aspects of data centres.
The move brings it into competition with a number of established vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Brocade and HP.
Barry Cioe, vice president of product management and marketing at Enterasys says: “ Enterasys wants to take a different path. When you peel away the veneer, you’ll see the goal is to tie in customers to a homogeneous environment and this capability will eliminate the need for manual intervention in this area”.
