RIM Launches New BlackBerry App Store

BlackBerry maker Research In Motion (RIM) is on the verge of completing a major revamp of its App World online application store, the company announced on its official website.

App World 2.0 will allow users to add the cost of purchases to their monthly mobile phone, in addition to the existing option of paying via PayPal.

RIM plans to almost all BlackBerry users to pay via their monthly mobile bill by the year 2011.

App World 2.0, which was first revealed a few months ago, is set to include a number of new features, including support for QR Bar Codes and an updated search function.

The most significant update is the introduction of a new BlackBerry ID, which will enable users to transfer applications from one device to another, rather than having to pay for a new copy.

No official date has yet been given for the UK release of App World 2.0, but it is expected to be launched imminently.
