WordPress, the popular web publishing and blogging platform, announced the release of WordPress version 3.0 on Thursday.
Wordpress is one of the most popular and widely used web publishing platforms in the world, and WordPress version 3.0 - nick-named "Thelonious" - is the company's 13th major launch.
Since its launch, the software has been updated with more than 2,700 changes, including nearly 1,217 bug fixes volunteered by 218 users.
The latest edition has a new, more refined default theme, Twenty Ten, with more customisation options than its predecessors.
The new theme will enable developers to easily customise backgrounds, headers, shortlinks, menus, post types and taxonomies.
Wordpress 3.0 also allows the developers to update files and plug-ins at the same time.
The software's security against scams has also been enhanced, enabling developers to customise options for the 'admin' user.
New users can download the software from here, and the company has already updated all the blogs on WordPress.com to the latest version.
