Latest Apple iPhone operating system has arrived

Apple’s latest operating system for their handsets arrived late last night and is ready for downloading from the usual source of iTunes. IOS 4 replaces version 3.1.3 and brings a whole new set of features to the iPhone 3G, 3GS and iPod Touch 2nd and 3rd generation of devices, in addition to being the operating system behind the new iPhone 4.

Features that appear in iOS 4 are the much awaited multitasking ability, along with new camera enhancements such as 5x digital zoom and tap to focus. Other key features in the new platform are better spell checking inside of applications along with the unified inbox, where one single inbox can hold multiple email addresses which simplifies many aspects of emailing.

Apple has also made some headway in supporting folders on the iPhone, all for the organisation of applications on the handset by placing those pieces of software inside of directories. Apple has also included the iBooks ability, which has been very successful on the iPad for downloading and reading of electronic books on the device.
