Dell is set to double the size of its data centre business within three years by shifting the staff, acquiring new companies and increasing sales.
Business Week reports that Dell will be looking to acquire vendors in addition to building its existing data centre business.
The company is also set to shift its focus from PCs by entering the market for smartphones and related services.
Dell had previously closed actories and cut 10,000 jobs in an attempt to turnaround its financial performance.
Experts have predicted that Dell's enterprise business will reach the $30 billion mark by 2014.
Michael Dell, Dell Chief Executive Officer stated at an annual meeting of analysts: "65 per cent of Dell’s 96,000 employees work in solutions, including systems for corporate data centres and technology services, up from 49 per cent two years ago."
