Columbia Pictures has released the first teaser trailer for its upcoming film, 'The Social Network'.
Based on the book 'The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook, A Tale of Sex, Money, Genius and Betrayal' by Ben Mezrich, the film depicts the early years of Facebook, describing the meteoric rise of the platform and the people behind it.
The film, starring Jesse Eisenberg as Facebook CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg, comes with the tag line: 'You can't make 500 million friends without making a few enemies.'
The making of the film has been controversial, with many critics questioning the point of making a film about the social network, whilst Facebook fans believe Zuckerberg's success story deserves its place on screen.
Written by Aaron Sorkin, the writer behind The West Wing television series, and directed by David Fincher, whose previous directing credits include Fight Club and The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, the film is set for release in the US by 1 October.
