Firefox creator, the Mozilla Project, has submitted a new application, Firefox Home, to the Apple App Store for testing on Wednesday, tech web site Beta News has reported.
The company is seeking approval from Apple to allow the application in its iTunes App Store.
Mozilla stated on its blog that because it was unlikely to receive approval for a full browser program for the iPhone, it had used the WebKit API provided by Apple to develop an application that would enable users to access some of the features of Firefox.
"Due to constraints with the OS environment and distribution, we cannot provide users Firefox for the iPhone," the Mozilla FAQs web page explains.
The application will provide users with remote access to their Firefox browsing history, recent tabs and bookmarks.
Firefox Home will also allow users to synchronise the application with the Firefox Sync desktop application.
