UK telecom firm Talk Talk has hired the BBC's former controller of TV platforms, Rahul Chakkara, as its new director of online, The Guardian has reported.
Rahul, who left the BBC on 30 June, had contributed to the development of the BBC's Project Canvas as well as its popular on-demand video service, iPlayer.
Max Alexander, senior director for TV at TalkTalk, said: “We are delighted to have Rahul on board to head up our online operations – he brings a wealth of experience and will play a key role in developing our online strategy.”
Chakkara will manage the company's websites, including as talktalk.co.uk, its customer support pages and forums. His main role will be to expand the company's online presence and improve website features and functionality.
TalkTalk believes that Chakkara will be able to use his experience in online digital content creation to cater to the company's growing customer base.
